Stockholm is one of Europe’s most productive tech ecosystems. Yet the city’s next phase of growth depends on decisions Sweden has not yet made.
Stockholm’s remarkable strengths include more unicorns per capita than New York or London, a dense founder network, and world-class universities. However, maintaining this momentum requires addressing three structural bottlenecks: slow and unclear visa processes, equity incentive rules that exclude the companies that need them most, and a shortage of local late-stage capital for deep tech and scale-ups.
In response, Stockholms Handelskammare is launching a new report, Unlocking the Next Wave of Growth which examines key opportunities in talent attraction, founder policy, and the conditions for building and scaling companies in the Stockholm region.
