Hanno Pevkur
Hanno Pevkur has served as Estonia’s Minister of Defence since 2022 and is one of the country’s most experienced political leaders in matters relating to security, governance and resilience.
Over the course of his political career, Pevkur has held several senior ministerial posts, including Minister of the Interior, Minister of Justice and Minister of Social Affairs. He has also served multiple terms as a member of the Riigikogu, Estonia’s parliament, representing the Estonian Reform Party.
Before entering national politics, Pevkur worked as a lawyer and held a number of leadership roles within the City of Tallinn administration. Alongside his political career, he has remained actively engaged in sport and civil society, serving as President of the Estonian Volleyball Federation since 2012 and as a member of the Executive Board of the Estonian Olympic Committee.
Pevkur holds degrees in law from the Tallinn School of Economics and the University of Tartu.
